SUMMARY:Screen Printing 102 with Sam Workman-Wetmore
DESCRIPTION:Screen Printing 102- Hand Painted Stencil Prints \n\nScreen Printing\, or Serigraphy\, is a stencil printing process that utilizes a fine mesh stretched over a screen and ink is pushed through the openings of the screen. This is also possible to do with photographs if the image is bitmapped and split by color in photoshop. Most people see a screen printed piece of art every day of their life as consumers. The most common screen printed item are graphic T-shirts. Due to registration issues\, we will NOT be making t-shirts\, however\, this class will teach the basics of screen printing. Samantha Workman will be your instructor for the day(s). Go easy on her\, this will only be her 2nd time teaching a printmaking class. \n⭐Registration is FREE thanks to the Arts Access Grant. Region 2 Arts Council Arts Access Grants are made possible by the voters of Minnesota thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. \nMaximum number of students is 10 due to number of screens \nIn order to attend this class\, you will have to register with Julie Kjennas at the Armory Arts and Events Center. DESCRIPTION:You will receive instruction on how to view landscapes and create the illusion of distance and foreground. Artist quality pigments and supplies are furnished. Tonal values\, shapes and sky are the emphasis in this class. Color mixing\, and wet into wet techniques will be used along with layering your painting. SUMMARY:Nemeth Art Center Artist Reception - Jesse Dermody & Daniel Kerkhoff
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the work of Jesse Dermody and Daniel Kerkhoff at a special reception honoring their latest collections\, Dermody’s The Deep Dream of Roots and Kerkhoff’s The Least Among Us. Enjoy an evening of art\, conversation\, and refreshments as the artists shares insights into their creative process and inspiration. \nJesse Dermody is a multi-disciplinary artist based in rural northern Minnesota. A sculptor\, poet\, and musician\, Dermody sees his three creative pursuits as the roots of a single tree–with sonic\, lyric\, and sculptural branches. His large\, dynamic sculptures are composed of driftwood\, roots\, barn boards\, stones\, animal bones\, and other found objects that he collects on his daily hikes near his home north of Duluth. Inspired by these collected treasures from the woods\, he assembles them into mystical\, emotional creature-forms that straddle internal and external worlds. Dermody had a solo exhibition at Macrostie Art Center in Grand Rapids in 2021 and tours extensively with his brother\, Ryan\, and their band The Brothers Burn Mountain. \nDaniel Kerkhoff is a Minneapolis and Mankato-based artist whose practice includes painting\, drawing\, mixed media\, collage\, sculpture\, photography\, and social practice. He studied at the Art Students League of New York\, as well as with instructors in San Francisco\, Japan\, Italy\, and Ghana. Since 2009\, he has been creating his own residencies\, as artist-in-community\, in Ghana\, Ecuador\, and Vietnam\, where he exhibits and curates\, provides materials for libraries\, makes art with children\, and documents their shared experiences in creating\, witnessing\, and connecting.
