Bring your outdoor clothes as we will be outside exploring nature if weather allows. \nNOTES: Adults must accompany children. Consider bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying your noon meal around the fireplace in the visitor center lobby after the program.

SUMMARY:Winter Bird Count at Itasca State Park
DESCRIPTION:This holiday season take part in the annual winter bird count at Itasca State park! This event is part of the nationwide Audubon Christmas Bird Count\, a 126-year citizen science project organized by the National Audubon Society. Spend a few hours or the whole day at Itasca State Park looking and listening for winter birds. Information collected is used to study the long-term health\, status\, and movements of bird populations\, which supports the development of conservation strategies. \nBird identification experience is necessary to participate. Warm up by the crackling campfire at the trailhead—perfect for roasting a snack—then head inside the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center for refreshments and music. If the snowpack allows\, snowshoe and ski rentals will be available through Itasca Sports at the Forest Inn near Douglas Lodge while supplies last. And why not make a weekend of it?
